in and out

Another reference to dirt magazine, where I have just read something that goes like this:

"...the hidden entrance is the key to preservation on the reservation ... I vary the route through the brambles so as not to leave any evident trail. As soon as the start to your track becomes obvious you'll attract all kinds of waifs and strays."

This is something that I've mentioned to a couple of people - I think that we should make a group effort to keep the entrance hidden - the route used by most at the moment is pretty obvious from the road - and the last thing we want is a busy body dog walker rambling through and letting the wrong people know what they've found...

Any thoughts?

While you ponder this, a few more pics to revive the long lost memory of last weeeks sunny evenings...

summer is here

ha fooled you. its isnt. the bowl looks like a swmming pool. ace. digging for bank holiday monday then.

Vintage Vivenne Westwood High Waisted Woolen Trousers

I was going to put 'video' as the title for this post but when i pressed 'V' 'Vintage Vivenne Westwood High Waisted Woolen Trousers' popped up. i guess thats what you get for living with 3 girls and let them use your laptop. well sorry to disappoint, no fashionalble slacks here, just a crappy quality video from my phone of me, duncan and martin training round the pumpie. the image quality reminds me of those happy slap videos that were all the rage a couple of years ago. i half want a hooded youth to pop out from behind a tree and slap me while a couple of his scally mates laugh their arses off and his girlfriend, probably called something like chantel or chardonnay breaks a bottle of lambrini over my head. that would be cool.

digmore "snapper"

Note the use of the word "snapper" instead of "photographer" - I'll leave that title to Mike, who I'm sure would have a thing or two to say about my composition, angles, lighting and all that pro talk!

If I can do one thing though, it's trial and error, so I'll keep posting the better shots out of the hundreds of attempts here for you wonderful models....

A couple of points of note:
  • If you'd rather not have shots of you online, just let me know.
  • If I'm there snapping away and putting you off / blinding you / getting in the way - just say so and I'll happily hop on my bike and do a few loops instead.
  • If you want photos of a particular corner / jump / tree just let me know and we can session it.
  • ...and finally, if you want to use the camera, that's cool too.

addicts

A while ago, dirt ran an article discussing the different ways that we all act out our addiction to the sport, well I have some more evidence.

Exhibit a) this boy is a digging machine

Exhibit b) "It takes a lot to keep me off my bike..."

Exhibit c) Well, more riding shots...

Exhibit d) We keep riding and digging even though the X-files tree has spread all around the track...

finally!

..........some riding shots. taff popped down last night with his camera and new flash and got some riding shots. i have it on good advice there are more to follow so i aint blowing smoke up my own bum by posting 2 of myself! i like the one of me chasing naren out of the berm, i am not sure what my face is doing, i think i may have just spooted a jammy dodger i like the look of and in the other picture of me i seem to have mugged a child for their bike. great. the other one is of will proving there is more than one fast Ferris brother. back to the challenges, the new lap challenge has begun, of course duncan got it at 7 laps first try. double figures please! fastest lap was put in by taff at 21.5 seconds. naren didnt compete claiming he 'doesnt like going fast' but set an interest challenge as to who could do the slowest completed lap. duncan also managed to manual in and out of the bowl from the weird pump bump berm. the uncompleted challenge is to get from the start at the top of the steps, do any lap and then back to the start again with out pedalling. hard, but it will be done.

more from still

a couple more photos from a good session up at still woods the other weekend. second ride out on the newly built turner. first road gap of the day, mech and wheel make friends and its goodbye hanger, mech, chain and cable. shadow technology my arse. spent the rest of the day riding chainless. naren and sam stepped up and were hitting their massive trails gap. nice photo of the wee scottish bawbag on the step down at the bottom. good times. the photos were taken by a couple of random photographers who's names escape my memory but they did have an umbrella on a flash gun which looked pro but confussed me.

x-files tree

there is this weird tree thats covered in cobwebs and catapilars and dangly things. its gross and it seems to spreading to trees all over the place. really dont know what the hell it is. freaky. maybe i am goint to go down one day and there are going be butterflies all over the place. or find sam in a cacoon in the middle of the bowl about to eaten by some uber catapiler. who knows?
